German KfW440 charging pile subsidy

KfW440 is a national subsidy policy implemented by the German government since November 24, 2020, aiming to accelerate the construction of the German private charging pile market, thereby further promoting the rapid adoption of electric vehicles.

KfW is short for Kreitänder – Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau – and is the German state-owned investment development bank. An important part of the bank's business is subsidies and loans to the construction and new energy industries.

1. KFW440 Policy Points

Funding of up to €900 per charging point/gun to subsidize the purchase and installation of charging stations. The charging pile must be installed in the private parking space or garage of the residential house, and the subsidy object is the owner, the owner's association, the tenant or the landlord, and the commercial pile built by the company is not entitled to this subsidy scheme.

2. Subsidized costs

Subsidize the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charging piles for private use only for residential parking spaces or parking garages, including:

• The purchase cost of 11kW smart charging pile (can be a higher power charging pile limited to 11kW);

• Charging pile installation and wiring costs, including all installation work;

• Controlling the cost of the energy management system (EMS) of the charging pile (Note: The prerequisite for receiving the subsidy is that the charging pile only uses renewable energy, such as its own photovoltaic power station to generate electricity, or a clean electricity contract with the power supplier.)

3. Who is eligible to apply for the subsidy

• Private owners

• Association of apartment owners

• Tenants

• Landlords (individuals, companies, housing associations)

4. Subsidy amount

Up to 900 euros per charging point/gun. The calculation method is: the cost of purchasing and installing charging piles is an expense, and the cost is not less than 900 euros to get the subsidy. A charging point/gun can receive a subsidy of up to 900 euros, provided that the expenditure cost is not less than 900 euros; Two charging points/guns can receive a maximum subsidy of 1800 euros, provided that the cost is not less than 1800 euros, if the expenditure cost is between 900 (inclusive) - 1800 (excluded), you can only enjoy a subsidy of 900 euros, in short, the amount of the subsidy is a multiple of 900.
